Liverpool new £80m Anfield Road stand expansion to be open for Manchester United visit
Liverpool have announced that part of the new Anfield Road stand upper tier will be open for the visit of Manchester United on December 17.
The stand has been operating at a reduced capacity with only its lower tier open after failing to meet the initial target ahead of the opening home game of the campaign in August. This was largely down to contractors Buckingham Group going into administration that month.

Work resumed with Raynor Rowen in September and now it is understood that there is growing optimism around half the tickets for the upper tier - which houses 9,500 people - will be available for the clash with the Reds' arch rivals.
Its opening will have to be in compliance with Liverpool City Council tests and a public test event beforehand, so that a safety certificate can be obtained.

FSG have hinted at next big plan for Anfield as Liverpool prepare for opening
When taking over the club, Fenway Sports Group made a point of redeveloping the historical stadium that already stood on the edge of Stanley Park.
This has meant a brand new Main Stand opened in 2016 - taking the capacity to over 54,000 - along with improved surrounding areas and club shop, and the most recent project which is due to finish this season is the expansion of the Anfield Road stand.
As a result, Anfield's capacity will be 61,000 - the fourth biggest in the top-flight - though where do FSG go from here?
Well, looking to the owners' other sports franchises, particularly those in the United States, they have started to invest in real estate close to where those clubs are based by building music venues, amongst other things.
