Police have made an arrest as a 16-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after a hit and run near a college.

Cheshire Police were called to Winwick Road, near Warrington Collegiate, shortly after 4.15pm on Tuesday, September 12, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a 16-year-old boy on a pedal bike was hit by an Audi A6.

The boy was airlifted to hospital following the crash, where he suffered potentially life changing injuries. He is now recovering at home.

The car didn't stop at the scene and was found abandoned in an alleyway near Longford Street and Rhodes Street. Police have now confirmed they have arrested a 25-year-old man from Warrington in connection with the incident.

The man was arrested on Thursday, November 23, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody at this time.
