Halloween enthusiasts and Harry Potter fans have been rushing to Asda to get their hands on a new drinking jar.

Inspired by the magical blockbuster franchise, the supermarket has released a 'Polyjuice Potion' tumbler glass', just in time for this year's spooky season.

Shaped like something out of Severus Snape's potion class, the glass comes with a straw, a cork stopper and its own 'Polyjuice Potion' label. It is currently available for £3 each.

The new drinking glass has wowed many online, with shoppers heading to social media to express their delight. One pleased customer, Joanna, took to the popular Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, to share her new purchase.

She said: "How cute is this!? Only £3 in Asda's Halloween section", alongside a snapshot of what appears to be red wine in her tumbler. The post quickly became a hit with shoppers, reaching 4.3k likes and thousands of comments.

Marina Porter commented: "My sister in law grabbed me this earlier after seeing this post! Thank you." Uploading a picture of hers filled with liquid, Sarah Pritchett replied: "I’ve got mine!"

Many other interested members tagged a friend, expressing how much they "need" the new glass the next time they go shopping. Lyndsey told a friend: "if you see one can you grab me one for Meg's please and thank you."

Proving how versatile the jar can be thanks to its appearance, Steven Grayson asked: "This drink cup or decoration?" and Lou echoed: "Is it a drink or ornament?" To which Joanna replied: "Drink. They do one with lights in too x."

Asda is also selling a version of the glass, without the straw, and fairy lights inside. Priced at £5, the battery operated light comes with multi-colours bulbs and already has several positive reviews, though some say it looks "cheap".

Asda is not the only retailer selling Harry Potter-inspired drinkware. Amazon has a 'self-stirring cauldron mug' for £14.99. Tesco is offering a Harry Potter 'colour change hot chocolate mug' for £8.
