The Church Street Christmas tree will be switched on today.

Today, November 23, Liverpool’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Richard Kemp, will officially switch on the 14,000 LED lights on the Church Street Christmas tree. Taking place from 4pm, the Liverpool Rock Choir will kick off proceedings with some festive favourites.

The Rector of Liverpool, Crispin Pailing, will officially bless the nativity at the base of the tree and then the Deputy Lord Mayor will flick the switch at around 4.35pm.

Throughout the event, there will be charitable collections for the Lord Mayor’s 2023/24 charity Local Solutions. This will be the first official Christmas light switch-on for the city as Liverpool ONE has moved away from the event in recent years.

Instead, the shopping complex invited crowds of thousands to enjoy a range of pop up pantomimes, musical performances, festive characters and flash mobs to ring in the season.
