Edge Hill
Home to the world’s oldest working railway station Edge Hill opened in 1830. In 2009 some of the historic station buildings were revamped and turned into the Metal Arts Centre. Merchant Joseph Williamson, known as “the mole of Edge Hill”, was behind the labyrinth of underground tunnels dug by men returning from the Napoleonic Wars . More than 100,000 people have visited since it opened as a tourist attraction.
