The fallout from Everton's Premier League points deduction continues.

The Toffees are set to appeal the decision this week, and a number of other clubs, including Leicester and Leeds, could seek compensation.

It means the club move back down into the relegation zone, though a number of pundits are under the impression that Sean Dyche is doing a successful job and will steer the club to safety this season.

Meanwhile, speculation continues surrounding possible punishments for Man City and Chelsea, who now face punishment should they be found guilty of respective financial breaches.

Goodnight!

And with that, that is all for today in our Everton FC liveblog.

Goodnight to you all, and see you back again tomorrow for more Blues news as it comes!

Everton U21 1-0 Athletic Club

Everton's Under-21s hosted Athletic Club at Walton Hall Park in the Premier League International Cup this evening, it is all over now and it was a great result for the Blues.

They won 1-0, Seamus Coleman played his first full 90 minutes since coming back from injury. An added bonus is Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane also played the full game.

Oh, and Lewis Dobbin's winner was quite nice. All in a good night's work!

Simon Jordan on compensation claims

Speaking on talkSPORT earlier today, Simon Jordan was asked how likely any compensation claim by a rival club against Everton would be successful. His response?

"None," he replied abruptly. "Why is the argument limited to four or five clubs? Because there have been nine clubs relegated during that period. So why isn’t there nine clubs coming in?

"And which part of the £20m overspend was spent in which particular season and affected which particular club?

"The conundrum here is that there is a lot of noise in the newspapers about there’s going to be hundreds of millions in potential compensation because of the implications of this. It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen.

"It’s one thing being given leave to appeal, many people have been given leave to appeal in court cases,” he said. “Iain Dowie was given leave to appeal in a court case against me, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have had his back side smacked again, just because one person wants to abdicate responsibility from closing all avenues.

"I think they’re wasting their time. I think they might get a shakedown.

"I think they might shake down a bit of aggravation and Everton might turn round and say we’ll give you two or three million quid or something of that nature. I do not see this as something that is going to get anywhere near the cost implications of relegation and I’d be gobsmacked if it got even within a whiff of millions of pounds."

Sky Sports to take action

Everton supporters are expected to protest the points deduction handed to them by the Premier League over the course of the coming weekend, though their shouts may not be heard say the Times.

Their latest report states that Sky Sports will take the necessary steps to prevent offensive language filtering through the match audio during their coverage of the Blues match against Manchester United on Sunday.

Protestors are supposedly calling upon home supporters to chant "Premier League corrupt as f***" in the 10th minute of the game.

777 Partners face major Genoa decision as they seek Everton takeover approval

Prospective Everton buyers 777 Partners currently face a huge decision with regards to one of the other clubs they own - Genoa in Italy.

When they acquired 99.9 percent of the club's capital, part of the deal was that they would "assume certain related liabilities." This refers to debt owed in the form of taxes to the Italian authorities worth €106m.

A deal was struck to reduce this by 65 percent, however still needs to be ratified by the Court of Genoa. If not approved, the club faces bankruptcy.

Daniel Farke declines to comment

Via the ECHO's sister site Leeds Live, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke sat down in front of the press earlier today to preview his club's Friday night fixture against Rotherham United.

Of course the questioning strayed to the topic of Everton's punishment and the Yorkshire club's stance on compensation, though the manager was quick to shut this down.

"No, I don't comment on this decision. No comment from my side, it's a topic for everyone involved," he replied, leaving it at that.

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke

Dan Carden, MP for Liverpool Walton, statement

Member of Parliament for Liverpool Walton - the constituency in Everton Football Club reside - has published a signed statement on the club's points deduction, saying he is "seeking opportunities to raise the issue further in Parliament."

It reads:

I am proud that my constituency is home to Everton Football Club, an institution at the heart of our city's rich sporting history and culture. The Club's charity, Everton in the Community, provides vaulable support to my constituents.

I share concerns that the 10-point deduction handed to the Club is disproportionate. Indeed, it is the harshest punishment imposed in Premier League history. Such a severe ruling deserves scrutiny.

Sporting sanctions unfairly punish supporters, players and coaching staff, and I believe the Premier League should consider alternative forms of punishment.

I have written tot he Chief Executive Officer of the Premier League to raise these concerns. I have also written to Everton FC to offer my support and assistance for the Club's appeal.

Additionally, I have added my name to the Early Day Motion 79, tabled by my friend Ian Byrne MP, and I am seeking opportunities to raise the issue further in Parliament.

With the best wishes, Dan Carden MP."

Everton feelings about compensation disciplinary panel

According to Matt Hughes of the Daily Mail, Everton are apparently unhappy with the Premier League's decision to appoint the same disciplinary panel that was responsible for the club's 10-point deduction to any potential compensation cases raised by rival clubs.

As well as appealing the points deduction -which will be done with a different panel assembled by the Premier League's Appeals Board - this latest report says the Blues are also querying why the people that found the club guilty are the ones to oversee these compensation claims.

Burnley, Leeds United and Leicester City were all relegated to the second tier in seasons that Everton were ruled to have been guilty and so believe they are entitled to money that they have lost through relegation and finishing in lower positions, therefore receiving less prize money at the end of the season.

The clubs that feel they are entitled to compensation have another 23 days to submit a formal complaint to the Premier League.

Kevin Thelwell explains Finch Farm mood

Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell has spoken about the mood within Finch Farm following the club’s record-breaking points deduction.

After being docked 10 points, interim chief executive Colin Chong issued a video message on the same day stating: “We believe the sanction is disproportionate and wholly unjust,” These feelings are shared by Everton's director of football Thelwell, who has published a message to supporters on the club's website:

Colin’s video message last Friday echoed my views and the sentiment of everybody here at Finch Farm. We are shocked by what we believe is a wholly disproportionate and unjust ruling by the Premier League’s commission.

PL manager weighs in on Everton points deduction

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has weighed in on Everton's points deduction.

The punishment is unprecedented in the English top flight and the Blades boss admits that it has 'opened up' the possibility of the Premier League handing out heavier sanctions in the future. However, Heckingbottom has backed Everton to fight their way out of relegation trouble:

"From a football point of view, I've been impressed with Everton this season," he told Sky Sports, as reported by the Sheffield Star. "I think they should have had more points than what they've had anyway so whilst it initially knocks them down into where they are, they've shown more than enough for me to show that they are going to be fighting and be more than capable of working their way out of it. We just hope that we finish above them.

Premier League told to find 'better way' after Everton punishment

Former Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips disagrees with the points deduction handed out to Everton.

The ex-England international believes that the Premier League needs to find a 'better way' to deal with financial breaches as the current ruling impacts the wrong people at a club.

"The punishment Everton have been given is wrong,” he told NewBettingOffers.co.uk. "What has happened off the pitch is not the players’ fault, it’s not the fans’ fault, but they are being punished for doing nothing wrong."

Premier League clubs fail to pass rule change

Premier League clubs have failed to pass a motion to block related-party loans in the January transfer window by one vote.

14 votes are required to pass a motion and the final count was 13-7, meaning no rules will be changed ahead of the upcoming transfer window. It has been reported by The Times that Everton were one of the clubs to reject the motion.

It means that there will be no restrictions on players securing loans from foreign teams that are under the ownership as the Premier League club they are moving to, as long as the market value is deemed fair.

This could well impact Everton in the future, with prospective owners 777 Partners having ties to Standard Liege (Belgium), Red Star FC (France), Vasco da Gama (Brazil), Hertha Berlin (Germany), Genoa (Italy) and Melbourne Victory (Australia).

The striker rejoined Brentford on loan in the summer and is seemingly keen to stay with the Bees. Speaking about his time on Merseyside, Mauapy told Sky Sports:

“I didn’t play much, but when I was on the pitch, I wasn’t the best version of myself. I didn’t find my best form.

“I’m always honest and tell the truth; last season, I didn’t enjoy myself. I didn’t enjoy my football and life up there was tough. The people around the club, the fans, made my life really difficult.”
