A new film set and shot in Liverpool is coming out next month.

In Bolan's Shoes captures 1970s glam rock mania through the experiences of a group of kids from a local children's home in Liverpool, before a devastating road accident changes their lives forever. Producer, Terri Dwyer, said she wanted to create a film that "showcased the best Liverpool had to offer."

Terri, known for playing Ruth Osborne in Hollyoaks, shot the majority of the film in Liverpool in 2021 just after the pandemic with her production company Buffalo Dragon. The film has a star-studded cast including, Timothy Spall, Matthew Horne, and Liverpool's own Leanne Best.

Terri told the ECHO: "The Albert Dock has been amazing and let us film there, we were able to shoot some scenes next to the Beatles statues on the waterfront, and, we even shot in Eric's on Matthew Street.

"The film is an advert for Liverpool and we have got as much in as we could and the city looks beautiful in the film. Anyone that does not know Liverpool will see how amazing it is."

Years after the accident, survivor Penny (Leanne Best) takes best friend and fellow Marc Bolan fan to visit his shrine in London but a chance encounter there catapults her back to the horror she had tried so hard to forget.

The film was written by actor Ian Puleston-Davies who met Terri on Hollyoaks and made his directing debut with In Bolan's Shoes. Other locations used in the film include a farm in Wirral and the LA Productions office in Kirkdale.

Terri said: "I wanted to make content where I live and there is so much untapped talent here in the North West. I think locations we have as much to offer as anywhere else.

"It has been a tough journey to get here and we wanted to make a film that would bring people back to the cinema. I think the film will appeal to music fans who love the area but also it's a tale of tragedy and human strength and finding a way to overcome it. Both of our lead characters are scousers so the film is really about the sheer strength of heart."

The film will be premiered at Fact in Liverpool on September 14 and will be released to the general public the following day.
