Some of the world’s strongest men and women came to Liverpool over the weekend to compete head-to-head.

In a battle of the nations, the M&S Bank Arena hosted The Giants Live World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour on Saturday, November 18, which saw a UK team face off against a group representing America. The UK team was fronted by the former World’s Strongest Man, Eddie Hall, as the group of eight hoped to retain their title as the stronger nation. The two sides showed off their strength as they competed in the likes of weight-lifting, barrel throwing and car carrying.

Team USA, fronted by Martins Licis, blew Team UK, fronted by Eddie Halls away in the opening two events to make the best start possible in what was an exciting sequel to last year’s inaugural contest.

Team UK took a while to get into their stride and closed what was at one stage an 11-point gap to trail by just three points going into the Power Stairs. The Americans, however, were too fast and it was Evan Singleton who sealed the win, lifting his 250kg weight onto the final stair.
