I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is finally back for its 23rd series.

Part of the star-studded line up includes columnist, broadcaster, author and food critic Grace Dent. The 50-year-old is also a regular food critic on MasterChef and a judge on the Great British Menu.

She has had several stints at different magazines and newspapers but has worked at The Guardian since 2018. Even though Grace was born in Cumbria, she has love for the city of Liverpool as her dad is a scouser.

In an article Grace wrote for The Guardian in 2021, she explained that since her dad can no longer speak, “there is something about landing in Merseyside, the way people there simply are and the rhythms of their dialect that makes me feel suddenly at home.”

Grace said that her “favourite leisure day ever” involves lunch at Pilgrim on Duke Street, followed by tea at Belzan on Smithdown Road while also fitting in a “scoot around” Harvey Nichols in-between food.

Another firm favourite of Grace’s is Mexican restaurant Madre at the Albert Dock. The writer and broadcaster spoke highly of her time at Madre as she said the food is “nonetheless ambitious.”

She explained the sharing bowl of shell-on prawns and refried beans are among some of her favourite items on the menu as well as the tuna tostada and Baja fish tacos. Grace said: “That slick of buttery goodness at the bottom of the plate is the most delicious thing we eat all night; the side of refried beans, meanwhile, is finely pulped and a little forgettable.”

The 2023 I’m A Celeb contestant described Madre as “making many, many Liverpudlians happy. And, right now, that’s about as good as it gets.”
