Police have removed around 400 cannabis plants from a house they raided.

Lancashire Police raided a home on Southport Road in Ormskirk on Tuesday, November 21, following "information" from the public. Once officers arrived they found around 400 plants across five rooms inside the home.

Officers confirmed an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and was taken to custody.

A spokesperson said: "Officers executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs act at a property in Southport Road, Ormskirk, at 12.45pm today. A large number of cannabis plants were found. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and is currently in custody."

Sgt Luke Newman from West Lancashire Police said: “We are dedicated to significantly disrupting drug supply, including those who are involved in drugs and associated criminality across West Lancashire. We will continue this approach through Operation Warrior so if you have any information about criminal activity in your area, we encourage you to report this to us.

"You can also contact us by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency."

Following police activity on the road, officers also posted a letter through residents doors to let them know they were there "as a result of information received".
