Kirkdale

The early 20th century slum clearance changed the face of Kirkdale - one of the first suburbs to become part of Liverpool. At the time the now demolished 22-storey Logan Towers was the world’s tallest prefabricated building. Kirkdale beach was said to have been popular with bathers in the 18th and 19th centuries before the docks took over. Ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid footballer Steve McManaman hails from Kirkdale.
