Long delays have been reported on the M62 following a multi-car crash near Birchwood.
Three out of four westbound lanes on the motorway were closed between junctions 11 and 12 shortly before 4pm today, November 21. Four miles of congestion were reported, with vehicles queuing in all four lanes.

At 4.30pm, National Highways North West warned of "severe delays" of 80 minutes due to a spillage covering two lanes. Emergency services remain at the scene, which is expected to remain in-place until around 6.30pm.

Fire services leave scene
Fire and rescue services were called to the scene of the crash at around 4pm, and departed at around 4.50pm.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent one engine from Birchwood to assist Manchester crews.
One lane reopened as 8 miles of congestion reported
One of the lane closures on the M62 westbound between junctions 11 and 12 has been lifted. Lanes three and four remain closed for recovery and clean-up.
Queues have increased to eight miles, leading back to the M602 to Salford, Greater Manchester.
