Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez continued to repay Marcelo Bielsa's faith as he starred for Uruguay in their 3-0 win over Bolivia.

The 24-year-old started and concluded the scoring as La Celeste moved up to second in the COMNEBOL World Cup qualification section. Nunez continued his hot streak at international level as he made it three goals in two games for the November international break following their historic win over Argentina.

After bursting forward and slotting beneath Emi Martinez against the reigning World Cup champions, the Reds forward showed different elements of his goalscoring prowess in Montevideo. He volleyed home from Facundo Pellistri's run in the first-half before nodding home from close range.

So far this season, Nunez has enjoyed a strong campaign scoring four goals and assisting as many, in his opening 11 appearances. It's a stark contrast to his debut spell on Merseyside after courting criticism for his performance.

And the talisman has garnered rave reviews from South American media for his display at the Estadio Centenario.

AS lauded the "unstoppable" Nunez after notching his sixth international goal. They wrote: "With Bielsa everything has changed. Even the biggest names have changed. Neither Cavani nor Suárez , who was a substitute, can argue with the moment of absolute brilliance that Darwin Núñez is going through .

"The Liverpool attacker once again showed signs of his voracity against a weaker defense than he usually faces. No one is safe from the striker, one of the fittest players on the world scene right now.

"His first goal came as it could have come so many other times until then. The irruptions of the full-backs and the wide men on the sides hurt the Bolivian defence. In one of those runs to the baseline, Darwin took advantage of the back patch to make it 1-0 and do justice."

Uruguay's closest World Cup rivals, Argentina, extended their lead at the summit of the COMNEBOL qualification sector to three points following their narrow win over rivals Brazil.

The loss for Fernando Diniz's side made it three straight defeats for Brazil, plunging them further down the table. Nunez received an eight out of 10 from publication, El Pais, for his showing in the Uruguayan capital.

"On one of the first occasions, he scored crosswise and almost missed the target. In the second, he connected in the middle and sent it to save," they wrote. "He was a threat to the Bolivian defense and in the 71st minute he scored his double. He reached five goals in six games in the current Qualifiers."

Meanwhile, El Observador reflected: "Darwin Nunez reinforces his consolidation as the scorer of the present and the future with goals," following his display.
