The M62 was closed after a crash involving a car that flipped onto its roof.
Police, paramedics and the fire service were called to the scene of the crash on the motorway between Bowring Park Road and junction 6 for Huyton at around 1am on Thursday. Photos taken at the scene show a car on its roof and debris scattered across the carriageway.
The nature of any injuries is yet to be confirmed. Merseyside Police Contact Centre said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Please be advised that there is a full road closure on the M62 at Bowring park to junction 6 and a full closure Westbound from Junction 6 Huyton to Bowring Park. Please find an alternative route."
