A road is closed after a woman was hit by a car.

Merseyside Police were called to Sefton Road in Litherland at 4.58pm on Thursday, November 23, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman had been hit by a white Seat Leon car.

The woman was found to have a leg injury at the scene and was taken to hospital for further assessment. There's currently no update on her condition.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries. No arrests have been made at this time.

A number of police cars remain at the scene as Sefton Road has been closed in both directions between Bradley Road to School Lane.
