Tim Cahill has called for the Premier League to be consistent with their sanctions after his former club Everton were docked 10 points for breaching profit and sustainability rules.
Last week saw an independent commission rule that the Blues had broken the Premier League's financial rules after recording losses in the excess of £105m for a three-year period ending in 2022. As a result, Sean Dyche's side were docked a record-breaking 10 points, leaving them languishing in 19th place despite recent victories over Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Brentford.
In light of Everton's charges, much discussion has been made over the punishment handed to the six Premier League League clubs who in 2021 drew up plans to form a European Super League. On Thursday, Gary Neville said "the trust and faith" in the Premier League's governance has "gone completely".

Now, former Everton hero Cahill has called for the independent commission and the Premier League to be consistent at a time when Manchester City have been charged and Chelsea are being investigated.
"The decision for Everton has set the bar for the Premier League and football," tweeted Cahill. "Now we must see this implemented with every club and every case opened up and looked at under a microscope like they have done to Everton.
"Governance is important for the league and so is consistency."
