Walton
Walton's best-known landmark is Goodison Park, the home of Everton FC since 1892 and one of the world's first purpose-built football grounds. Originally known as Walton-on-the-Hill it was once the home of Liverpool Inner City Zoological Park & Gardens. Robert Noonan, who wrote socialist work The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists under the pen name Robert Tressell, was buried in a pauper’s grave at Walton Cemetery.
