Heartbreaking tributes have been left for a "lovely lad" who went to work and never came home.
Dylan Kearns, from Kirkby, was cycling on the East Lancashire Road at around 7am on Friday, November 3 when he was involved in a crash with a white Volkswagen Scirocco car. Emergency services were called to the scene, near the junction of Moorgate Road, and took the 25-year-old to hospital with serious injuries where he died a short time later.
Merseyside Police confirmed his name yesterday afternoon and his devastated family issued a statement through the force's press office. The tribute read: "Dylan Kearns was tragically taken away from all his loving family and partner, Jamie, this morning.

"He was a well-known lad, liked by everyone and he had a contagious smile that was so warm. He was so loved and will be missed by everyone."
Hundreds of people left heartfelt tributes to the young man last night on the ECHO's social media. One woman described how she supported his devastated family in the aftermath of the incident. Amanda Lynskey said: "So very sad, that poor young lad taken away from his family forever.
"I consoled his cousin this morning at the station when she had just got the awful news. I haven't stopped thinking about her all day." Cathy Russell wrote: "Unbelievably heartbreaking. I can't get his face out of my mind. He's always in our shops, god bless him. May he rest in perfect paradise."
Leanne George added: "Sleep peacefully mate. Such a lovely lad. No one should go to work and not come home. Thinking of all your devastated family."
Alison Edwards George said: "So heartbreaking. Your baby going to work and not coming home. Such a lovely lad. You will be missed mate. Thinking of your mates and all your family."
Other readers expressed condolences for Dylan's family. Sharon Jane Brooks said: "Absolutely heartbreaking. Deepest sympathy to all his family and friends. Thinking of you all. Another beautiful soul gone too soon."
Pauline Allt wrote: "Heartbreaking. Another young life gone. Thinking of his family and friends. Forever young. God bless you." Tina Short added: "So very, very sad. Sleep peacefully young man. Forever young for his family."
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the limit.
The East Lancashire Road was closed until late yesterday evening. Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses with CCTV or dash camera footage to get in touch to help the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, from Merseyside Police serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our sincere thoughts are with Dylan’s family at this tragic time. They are being supported by specially trained officers. Although we have made an arrest, we are still appealing for information to help our ongoing investigation.
“If you witnessed the incident, or have CCTV or dashcam footage, please contact us if you have not already done so. I urge drivers who were in the area to please check dashcam footage to see if it has captured anything that will help with the investigation as every piece of information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened."
